Ali Nurazmal Yusoff is a Malaysian artist, born in Penang in 1978. He graduated with a degree in fine art from MARA University of Technology (UiTM) in 2001 and now lives and works in Kuala Lumpur. Beginning painting at the age of 9, Yusoff has actively participated in art competitions since the age of 16 and also, later, in significant art exhibitions alongside renowned Malaysian artists like Ibrahim Hussein and Anuar Rashid.
Yusoff is known for his perfectly executed, realistic style of painting. He has also enjoyed experimentations with expressionist styling, as well as his earlier works showing abstract techniques. In his latest realist works, he uses rolling brushstrokes to portray form, which is in complete opposition to the Renaissance style of realism he initially began using. The images appear at first to show a canvas of flowing brushstrokes but if you move back from the image you can easily see the recognizable forms of the artwork.
