THE LONG MARCH CZ-2F (长征二号F火箭 Chang Zheng 2F)
General Secretary and President Jiang Zemin named the rocket 'Shenjian' meaning 'Divine Arrow'.
50 Years ago Apollo 11 launched into history. On July 16, 1969, astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins lifted off from Launch Pad 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre, Florida on a journey to the Moon. Today we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the historic Apollo 11 Moon mission by launching our own rocket.
We are releasing a replica model of the Long March CZ-2F rocket signed by China’s first National Space Administration astronaut Yang Liwei 楊利偉. Liwei was launched into space atop a Long March 2F rocket from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on 15 October 2003 and became the first person sent into space by the Chinese space program. This mission, Shenzhou 5, made China the third country to independently send humans into space.
