Macey & Sons is very honoured to invite independent Asian art researcher and specialist in Himalayan Art, Ms. Wai Wai Hon, whom will take us through and demonstrate the archival process of using advanced technologies to capture and record the art collections, murals and architecture of selected important monasteries in Tibet. The project is lead by the Research Institute for Tibetan Buddhist Heritage, The Palace Museum Beijing; UNESCO and in collaboration with major monasteries in Tibet.
Guest Speaker Ms. Wai Wai Hon - Asian Art Researcher & Specialist
Ms. Wai Wai is an independent Asian art researcher based in Hong Kong. For the past 20 years, she has immersed herself in the study of Himalayan Art with focus on Tibetan Buddhism art forms and the sacred practices of this tradition. In her studies and professional work she continues visit Tibet, India, Nepal, Sikkim and Bhutan to study Buddhist art in situ and understand the context is which Buddhist culture has survived over the centuries and continues to attract a wide audience of admirers. Since 2013, Wai Wai has actively collaborated with The Palace Museum Beijing to carry out the advanced digital archiving of the art and architecture of important monasteries across Tibet. In 2015, she co-published a limited edition book with the Jokhang Temple on the restoration of its golden roof. The book won the Best Creative Award at the Hong Kong Print Awards. Last year in 2018, she organised the highly praised Silk Road and the Art of the Tibetan Plateau Forum together with the Palace Museum Beijing, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Asia Society.
